Post Electric Power interupt?

On a Taurus Wagon we bought new in 1991, the Ford Dealer installed a power kill system that was controlled by inserting or removing a computer coded "key" which slid into a receptical under the dash. With the key removed, the circuit was broken and the car could not start. A simple and effective deterant. Is there such a product, or one similar still on the market, or some other simple kill switch? I don't really care for the remote control keyless entry/alarm/kill switch things because I don't like carrying the unit in my pocket.
Any suggestions?

It's basically a kill switch. Just make your own and save some money

Robert, I am neither a mechanic nor electrician, but I can follow simple directions. Can you tell me how I can make a kill switch? I assume you cut or splice into a wire, (starter cable?) but how do you hook up the switch.
Thanks,
Ken

well, there's 2 ways. Both require cutting the ignition or starter wire under the dash. The easiest is using a toggle or momentary switch and wiring it between the cut wire. There's another way with a relay but I have to look at some notes.

If you want one of those "chip" things, I can get it for you. This way you can just mount it below the dash and have that little red LED as well. I know it'll be less than the $200-$300 the dealer will take you for.

I might be able to get one those units that you just swipe across vs. inserting a chip. email me privately if you want to discuss it further.

This holds for anyone that is interested.
