Question Removing emblems

Has anyone removed the Triton V8 emblem from their front fenders, or the F-150 tailgate emblem? I want to clean up to overall look of my truck abit, plus work the sleeper angle let the Chevy & Dodge boys think think its a V6 when I'm at a stop light. Are their locating holes under any of the above mentioned emblems? I don't what any surprises after pulling them off. Any advice on pulling them off cleanly is welcome, I was considering using dental floss to work them loose.

Good news and bad news, Bob. First the good news. The emblems are easily removed with a little patience, a little pull, and a lot of forced air heat from a hairdryer. I swapped my plain tailgate emblem with a Triron V-8 emblem. The bad news is that there are two posts on the back of the emblem that pass through holes in the body. Search this site for more details on "tailgate emblem".

Question

Selva1 are you saying that the Triton V8 emblem has locating pins, or are you reffering to the tailgate F-150 emblem??? I sort of figured that the F-150 emblem would have pins, but hope that the Triton emblems do not. But since I'm not sure I won't attempt to remove anything without clearification. Thanks

Unhappy

I'm afraid both have the pins. The Triton V8 fender emblems are simply F-150 emblems with additional material beneath them. The pins are located on both types, behind the "F-150" part of the emblem. I'm afraid that removing any form of "F-150" emblem will reveal two holes in the body beneath it. Now if you just want the sleeper look, you could either remove the fender emblems, trim the lower half off and remount them, or replace them with a pair of tailgate emblems.

Cool

How far apart (center to center) are the two holes in the fender from the F-150 emblem?
I am going to remove the F-150 emblem and install a sleek (turn signal lamp) in it's place. I have seen them on some Saabs cars and they look sharp.

Thanks,
