Post Bugflector II

I just came back from a long trip and came to this conclusion: the Bugflector II sure looks good on the truck ... but that's it.
It does nothing to keep bugs off the truck, except for the area directly behind the bugflector. I had bugs on the windshield and even on the wipers.
To be fair, the slope of the hood makes any deflector pretty much useless because the leading edge of the hood is so low compared to the windshield. So, in conclusion, it looks good but be prepared to stop at a gas station clean your windshield.

Yea, and how do you think I feel now. I bought a clear one! You can't even see it till enough bugs hit it.

Thats funny! I noticed the same thing, it only protects the front lip from getting rocks, instead, I took a nice rock on the windshield...

Cphilip, you might consider removing yours and painting the inside of it black

Naw, I like it on my white truck. Had to look all over for it. It is all about "the look"!

Another name for a bugflector is a "hood deflector." It's design is to keep small stone and bugs from hitting the hood and scratching the paint. You guys should look into the Lund Wiper Cowl. They can be puchased through JC Whitney. Anything that misses Bugflector should get repelled by the wiper cowl. I have noticed a big difference on the bugs that hit the winshield on past vehicles, and have one here waiting to install on my SuperDuty. They hide the wipers and look good too!

Question

I wonder if Ford's version of the bugdeflector works any better?
How much are the wiper cowls?

Naw, its made by one of these afore mentioned companies anyway. I can't remember which one. Don't get us wrong, they do some good and look good as well. They are all about the same really.
