GEN3 Projector Headlight Installation Help

I bought and installed a set of "Sonar" GEN3 Projector headlights with clear corners. The headlights have two additional LED lights under the low/high beams. When I hooked up the standard plug, low beams work fine, but when you switch to the high beams, it never switches all the way over. They both are on and at a lower wattage.

I did not hook up the LEDs and my question is do I have to? Has anyone else had a similar problem? Did I do something wrong? The LEDs have a hot wire and a ground. Can I just ground the two lights and find a hot wire or does it need to be spliced into the hot lead for the main headlights?

Projector Headlight Installation

Okay, I solved my own problem. The problem was that the leads for the ground and low beam were swapped on the pigtail from the new headlights. That was an easy fix. The LED lights are also hooked up now. All that took was tieing the hot lead to the hot wire on the parking lights and then grounding the lights to the frame. Everything works and it looks great.

Yo Silver; check out my photo gallery" I have the Gen3 headlights in black w/ black side lenses. I recommend either the black or the carbon fiber look, unless you like the "bling".

Percy, where did you purchase these? I like the look of the black/smoke better than the clear. Plus, I'm sick of my blackouts, and these look waay better.

Thanks for your help.

If both your high and low beams are on at the same time, you probably need to make the same switch that I did. Check the pigtail from the new headlights. The high beam and ground need to be reversed. You can do this pretty easily with a very small screwdriver. Just push the screwdriver in the slot behind the wire tab in the plug, pull it out the back of the plug and then reinsert it the right hole. If you have one available, check your wiring diagram for the headlights.

I tied the hot wire for the LEDs to the hot wire for the parking lights. Without looking, I think it was the brown wire (middle). They should come on when your headlight switch is turned to the first stop. I then grounded the black wires to the frame.
