Trailer Lights????
I have a 97 f150 with the factory towing package with the 7 trailer light connector. My Question and problem is, Does anyone know how to get this connector to work? I have had two F150s and both did the same thing I get NO lights when I plug the trailer into this connector. Is there something that need to be pluged in maybe under the dash? to make this work? Seems like I saw something about this subject somewhere in here before.
Dreamer7. I have a '99 with the same 7 pin connector and it worked the first time. I'm assuming you checked the fuses, but maybe the previous owner (if you bought it used) may have backed a trailer into the water without disconnecting it first.
If that's not it turn the lights on, take a DC voltmeter, put one end to ground and the other to the individual pins, one of them should give you 12 volts. Then try the same thing with the brake lights, if you DO get a voltage there's something wrong with the trailer wiring. Otherwise there's no switch that I know of. good luck.

Dreamer7, Do you have the trailer relays in the relay box? (it is under the hood next to the master cylinder) It is my understanding that the 7-pin harness doesn't work without these installed. When I got my truck these relays were in the glove box and I had to install them to activate the 7-pin harness.
