Window Tint...

I'm looking at getting my front windshield and my two front passenger windows tinted to match the rear two passenger windows and the back window.

What would be the best way to ensure a "match" of tint color?

Should I pay a pro or can I match over the counter?

Thanx.

Take your truck to a professional shop. Unless you have a ton of experience with putting tint on your car, the hassle is not worth it. AT ALL

The shop you take it to should be able to match it up for you perfectly. They have machines that help with that...

I just went with 5% all the way around, overlayed the 5% over the factory back window and rear passengers.

As for the front windows, I had them pull off the factory tint and replace it with 5%. The back is VERY dark... Almost impossible to see anything on a cloudy day. But I like my privacy in my vehicle.

Good luck!

On my last truck I had the 5% over the factory tint on the back window. It was nice until I backed into my house and knocked the drivers side mirror off. But out here the cops want to be able to see into the cab somewhat when they approach a vehicle.

Darn Oregon law (ORS 815.221, 815.222) says I can't have ANY tint on my front windshield or my two front-side windows.

Sheesh.

Sheesh.
Oregon law doesn't restrict you or a tint shop from putting tint on the side windows. there's nothing wrong with that.

Mine was a professional job...helped a great deal with the Texas sun. The great deal was that I got a nationwide lifetime warranty against peeling.

Tint

I agree w/ just about everyone else. Take it to a professional tint shop. They should be able to do the two front windows for around $50 - $75. Doing the job yourself is definetly not worth the hassle. A shop should also be able to match the tint on your back windows exactly. A couple things to look for.....Check you state and local laws. I cannot tint the windshield in my town. Plus, make sure you do not go to dark. Some laws require a lighter tint on the front windows. Also, most tint shops offer a lifetime warranty. Which would cover peeling, scratches, fading etc.......If the shop you go to does not offer one, I would not do businees with them.

Hope this helps

Right, you'll notice a lot of places offering lifetime warranty on bubbling, peeling... but by the time that happens, the place has gone out of business. I actually saved my original receipt and had to use it but when I went back to the same place I noticed it had a new name.

The irony here is the new business also offers lifetime warranty. I wonder how long they'll actually be around. They also made me pay $75, cash, for 2 windows since the tint is 12%. A terrible job too, some tiny specks behind the film and jagged edges. That and no receipt and denial of any service provided should a cop show up at their door asking about my tint.

thats the biggest reason to go pro that I can think of... the warranty against fade and peel.

Its just not worth the aggrevation to do it yourself.

Any good installer should warrenty the film & work for life. If they don't, run away to the next installer.

20% Perfect match...
