you can pull the headlight case out to remove the bulb...seems like easiest way to do that...there are two flange type things...pull both up and then just pull the headlight casing out. takes a min max

Your Owner's Manual shows you exactly how to pull the entire assembly out. Be very careful not to bump the adjuster rods (getting them out of alignment). Also be careful when you slide the assembly back in making sure that the adjuster rods slide down their intended paths. If you find your headlight aim off after installing a new bulb, this is where your problem is.

I unbolt the two coolant tank bolts and push the tank back as far as I can.

All of the above work...

To make it easier on yourself, remove the side marker/turnsignal assembly. This gives you three times the room to work when removing the headlight assembly.

and with the age of the truck, expect those sliding tabs to be very frozen. Grab some pliers for grip when pulling up on them (your knuckles will thank you)

I just put L headlights in my 02 F-150. I learned the hard way. It's

better just to take the headlight out then replace the bulb.
