Smokers, please help!
Smokers, please help!
I have a hazy film on the interior of my windshield that just won't come completely clean. I smoke in the truck once a day and am wondering if any fellow smokers have found a product that will get rid of this film...
all help is appreciated. Thanks.

Make up the following window wash solution:
To make a great formula for washing windows, combine the following:
½ cup sudsy ammonia
1 pint 70% isopropyl alcohol
1 Teaspoon dishwashing detergent
Add water to make one gallon.
Use this spray to dampen the windows. Then wipe them with a lint-free cloth. I use old dishcloths or paper towels.
This works better than any store bought solutions and doesn't leave streaks!
If it's really thick..Cover your dash and go buy some soot remover for glass fireplace doors.
In the future either open your windows more or turn on the defroster so it doesn't cake up again.

Don't use Windex, it contains Amonnia and it causes the dash to "out gas"(leaving the non-smoker's window film/crud).
Use Invisible Glass from Stoners or Bon Ami. I use the two rag system:
Spray and wipe with rag 1 (get most of the crud off)
Buff with rag 2
Another hint: wipe the inside vertically and the outside horizontally. This way if it streaks, you know what side to clean

I only really see the streaks when it gets dark and/or rainy outside.

you should clean the it when the light hits it so you can see any streaks. learn which method works best for you so you can replicate when the sun is bright and streaks are not visible.

Even if you don't smoke, you'll get that haze build-up... smoking just seems to speed up the process.
Anywho, I use Stoner's "Invisible Glass" product w/ Newspaper or a terry cloth towel. That stuff rocks. Pretty cheap too. Stay away from amonia-based products. Evil stuff.

A lot of that stuff comes from the pores in the dash. Make sure you're cleaning your dash as much as your windshield, and it will help.
Second the A/C NOT on MAX when you're smoking. If it's that hot out, you can turn it back to MAX when you're done, but that's one sure way of it getting all up in the dash vents. I hardly ever run my AC on MAX anymore, it does just fine on fresh.
And for God's sakes, at least crack the window! I see people all the time driving with their windows rolled up tight, smoking away. You'll never get that smell out of one of those cars.
