Billent Body emblems.

I used acetone on my body emblems and got one of them to chrome out very nice, but since the paint is old, I think, the other two won't chrome out. I need some advice or if you know anywhere to buy aftermarket emblems. As you can imagine it looks stupid driving with one chrome one and the rest stock black. Any suggestions will help.

just acetone them, they're chrome emblems with paint on them. When you acetone the emblems you're removing the paint and showing the chrome. Don't worry the other emblems will be fine.

Emblems

Thank you very much for the help. I acetoned them and nothing happened. The paint on them faded a little bit, but not very much. Is there anyway of removing them so I can soak them in acetone. Thanks.

Hey bachelor,

Had the same prob on my 99. There is an old style that was a black anodized then painted. Wont ever come out chrome because they never where. See, 150 emblem what the ???? thread in other body forum, I had the same problem between my driver side and passenger side. Had to buy a new one to replace it for $22 at ford. The new one acetoned up nice. You truck was most likely built early 99 I think to have both styles.

bachelor, I put my own on. They are just stuck on with adhesive (be it good holding ) and the new ones come with the new adhesive on them. It just requires a blow dryer, or heat gun to heat up the old one to aid in removing it. Clean the area and replace. Acetone the new one before installing for ease of removing paint.
I had to wait for like 3 days for the dealer to order my replacement. If the one that cleaned to chrome looks pitted I would replace it also as make them all equal in appearance.
Good luck and hope that helped.
