Question LED Brake Light Question

Quick question for those who have installed a new LED light. I just received my Lightning LED 3rd brake light that I got off of eBay. I took off the old one and matched them. The Lightning light has a plug in wire harness on back and the old one just has wires going into the top rear of the roof. There is a plug for the hole attatched to the wires on both. However when I pulled the plug out of the roof on the old light, it only comes out about 1/2" and no further. I am assuming the plug in is well inside the roof. Is there some trick to installing the light? Do I need to remove the inside of the headliner? Thanks in advance for any advice!

reach into the headliner you'll find the plug.

Thumbs up

JSTANG - I thought that might be the deal but didn't want to pop the holders out and pull the headliner down if I didn't have to. Glad I asked, thanks a lot! By the way, great picture of your guard dog!
