Question PAINT to match?

I would say "touch up paint" but i guess im refering to a larger amount.

Does any one know where we can get a LARGER amount say a spray can size or something to match existing F-150 colors?

The project is to paint bolt on fenders..etc. so i figure a little dabber of paint wont do the trick.

i would guess the local FORD dealer...but i would also figure on-line somewhere would be way cheaper.

Hit your local auto paint supply house with your paint code and they will match it for you. If you don't know or have the paint code due to some strange circumstance or you have concerns about faded current paint then take off your gas door and they will be able to perfectly match it up. It should not be to horrible (depending mainly on color) and you would only need roughly a pint or less to paint two fenders. Just under a pint did my tonneau cover (flareside).

I forgot to add. PPG or DuPont both make great paint and are usually easier to find than some of the others out there.

hey VB...

www.paintscratch.com

Your paint codes are on the sticker in your door jam...

Signature pictures can be inserted using the same code as you would insert a picture into the forums... refer to the "QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SITE" forum for an indepth 'how-to'.

Thumbs down BUMMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After wally World, NApa, Kragen, a local paint store, an AUTO PAINT STORE!!!, and even the FRICKEN FORD DEALLLLLLER!!!!

i couldn't get one lousy can of "FL" to match my Toreador red paint!!!

so i went to RENO this morning...scored on a LARGE CAN of Dupli-Color (the small was fm-344) the large can is in the garage...but it is the companion to the small can just a different number.

I sprayed my plastic and it is WAY DARKER than my rig!

the can says perfect match garruntee...man are they way off!!!

next week i guess i will call and tell dupli color they sucks ***!

meanwhile i got the wrong color, and i guess i should expect them to replace the paint...if not the plastic!! (doubt that though)

paint camera?

all of the auto paint stores around here have this little paint matching camera ( i don't know what the actual name for it is ) but if you dont know EXACTLY what color you have they take that camera and stick it to the paint on your truck and it "reads" the paint and tells them in code how to mix the paint! it works great, I painted some parts on my Ninja and they matched the "bright signal green" color PERFECTLY!

hope this helps! hotrod22
