Is Lund Interceptor mounted tight enough?
Just put a Lund Interceptor bug shield on my truck and I don't think I got the plastic fasteners tight enough. A couple of fastening points seem to have some excess play between the shield and the underneath of the hood. Since the shield uses a metal screw on each end, I'm considering replacing the plastic fasteners with metal screws. Any thoughts appreciated.
bug deflector
I actually have the ford bug deflector but I was in the same boat, the screws on the end didn't seem to tighten down the bug deflector very well, but it has been a year and a half no problems.
do it right.....
take it off, toss the plastic holders.
Take a 5/32nd drill and drill new holes either side of the mounting holes on the deflector.
place the deflector where you want it(it takes 2) and mark through your just drilled holes onto the hood.
now take the drill and CAREFULLY drill a hole into the hood, don't go to deep or you will have new hood scoops 8-(
take the drill and wollow out the hole a bit(move the drill bit in a circular manner while it,s turning)..not to much.
now take a #10-5/8th pan head screw with zinc coating or stainless if you can find 'em,and slowly screw into the hole about half the length of the screw and remove.
now take some 3M double back tape and cut it into several small squares and adhear to back side of deflector and mount onto hood so all holes line up,this will help hold the deflector while you insert the screws.
Done, enjoy and don,t worry about it coming off
