Ordered Lightning headlights
Ordered Lightning headlights
I ordered some Lighting replica headlights for my truck (03 F150 Scab FX4 silver metallic) yesterday off of EBay from Red Dog Motorsports. Not sure of how great the quality will be for $152, but for that price it wouldn't be too big of a tragedy if they were not.
For those of you that have these lights, I have two questions: 1) How do you think they will look with APC clear corners? I know now from reading this formum that these are not good quality, but did not know that when they were put on. The installer of my Trenz billet grille convinced me to put them on, and I do like how they look for now and 2) Are the headlights difficult to install for someone that is not very handy, such as myself? Does the grille or grille shell need to be removed to install the headlights? Are all of the bolts that hold the headlights on easily accessible? Will the headlights necessarily need to be "re-aimed" after they are installed?
Any guidance or advice you guys could give me would really be appreciated. It is amazing how reading this forum has given me the itch to customize/modify my truck.

Headlights are an easy swap. There are two metal brackets behind the headlight, pull them up, and the headlight slides forward (remove the bulb harness first
) and that's really all there is to it, but yes you'll need to aim the new headlights. If you're not really sure what you're doing just measure the height of the light beams of the existing lights on a wall, then adjust the new ones to match...
I've been asking around about those replica lights you got, but no one seemed to know about them, please let me know what you think of them, and pictures would be great too...
thanks...

I too have bought these same headlights from the same place as you. I called them to get some infor on TYC lights. They told me that they have a great warr. & never had any problems so far. I checked on a different site, most of TYC lights were $85 to $95 each plus shipping. I`m using my stock corners for now. Maybe buy some that are clear diamond. but they have to fit the earlier 97`s , I have one that came out March of 1996. Limited on what I can do . I can hardy wait to get them on!!!!! Should have them by Sept. 2 or 3 the way I see it now. They will get my money order on Tuesday the 26th. If you use a money order other than a postal one it could take longer to get them.

First time Ford ower here. (D.O.B 8/1/2003) And I too am interested in seeing your light Assy. I just got back from the ford house and after seeing the price tag in those headlights I'm going to need to save my penny's.
Are there any after-market tail light that arn't big a bulky?

I am in the same boat as you guys. The only difference between the TYC lights and the real ford lightning head lights is the SVT sign on the bulb globe other than that they are the same. Also I need to find some clear corners. I'd like to stay away from the Ford lightning corners. These are about the best looking corners I have found so far. Clear Corners
The cheapest I have found lightning corners is $75 dollars a piece. My Tyc headlights are on backorder and will be here next Tuesday. Any ideas on clear corners that would match a little better would be nice. Also why don't the Diamond G2 clear corners fit 02 F150? They ad says it only fits 97-01???

I finally received and installed by TYC Lightning headlights about a week ago. To me, they look really sharp and clean up the front end of my truck (I would post pictures, but don't have access to a digital camera). After I put them in, I realized that they did not match my APC corners at all. So, I bought some Matrix Diamond Clear corners that match very nicely.
I just ordered my corners from procarparts.com. Diamond clear corners. I spent $210 dollars on everything. I guess that is pretty good. These places are hammering on shipping though. Procarparts.com charged 20 dollars for ups ground. That is like almost what i paid for the corners. Also if I would have wanted express it would have been 45 dollars. Matrix racing i got 3 days service for 45 dollars for my headlights. I work at a machine shop and I know they can't be paying more than ten to 15 dollars for shipping, because we ship some pretty heavy boxes ups and it isn't that bad. Anyway I did some searching and it seems TampaSvt was using Lightning headlights and diamond corners. I hope it looks good.
Here`s a pic of both headlight & corner light.....
& another pic...

I have a total of $214.25 in the heads, corners & new signal bulbs.

I order them from StylinConcepts.com . But I called instead of online ordering. They are APC Titan Amber bulbs My total was $25.40, yes for only 2 bulbs, but shipping was $7.95 the bulbs $8.95 each. My TYC Headlights $154.95 +PCP Clear Dia.Corners $33.90 + Titan Amber Bulbs $25.40= $214.25 for the total.
