Help me choose my next mod...

Well I am almost ready for another mod and I have mixxed feelings on what to get. So far this summer, I have added an ARE tonneau, spoiler, '00 Lightning wheels, new Eagle F1's, and the new Sony MP3 CD player. Next I will probably go with some aftermarket speakers, but that won't cost much money since I have some I can trade for new ones.

I have thought of a couple of appearance mods that I would like to do eventually. They are a new hood, brushed speed grills, a body drop, bed carpet, and a front end, sideskirts, and roll pan with smooth steps.

What should I do next? I was thinking maybe the body drop would look the best for appearance. Maybe a 3/4 or 3/5 kit.

Could anyone give me some suggestions on what would look best for my next appearance mod?

Here is a pic of the truck taken in May, before my summer mods.

I was thinking about a chip, intake, and exhaust, but I think I am going to hold off on the performance stuff for a while. I am trying to get the truck how I want it to look first, while I decide on what exactly to do for performance. I am probably going to do something big for performance when I am done with the appearance and sound. Maybe a L engine, or the new Procharger coming out for the V6, or a Turbo kit if it ever comes out.

I will probably end up going with the drop. How much do you all think installation would be on a drop kit? I am thinking a 2/4 or 3/4 like you said.

I am thinking Ford Lightning bumper cover about 900 dollars and well worth the change. Makes the truck look more aggresive on the front.

I am kinda hesitant on the L bumper. I already have 00 L wheels. If I get the cover then I will feel like I am trying to copy off the Lightning. When it comes around to front ends, I was thinking any of the SS Gen 2-4 or the Truckmaster. I think I am gonna go with the drop, then a hood or SS body kit.

first do the drop kit, I recomend @ least the 3/4 kit, thats what I have..but on a lightning it sits lower. I had a black 99 xlt kinda like yours for a while, I put a BellTech 2/4 on her... the front could have definitly come down another inch..it wasnt perfectly level at 2/4..3/4 is just right.

As far as the bumper cover... I wouldnt go for the SVT cover like you said. I bought the SS cover with satin speed grills for that XLT i had..it looked VERY good... but finding a place to paint urethane isnt super easy.

Which SS cover did you have? I was thinking Gen 3 more than likely. I think a 3/4 drop would be plenty with the area I live in. I live rural so I am on a lot of bumpy roads and besides that, I don't want to worry about scraping on speed bumps and stuff like that. I plan on having a bumper cover and side skirts so that will put me pretty low. I might go with a 2/4 or 3/5 because I want the ***-end to sit down lower. What kind of kit would it take to drop the front an inch or two and level out the rear?

I had the gen 3 cover. it actually hangs about a half to a full inch lower than the Lightning bumper does so beware of that. If you have the stock rims/tire size..then a 2/4 will keep you from scraping anything. The cover is VERY flexible anyhow. You dont want to drop the rear lower than the front, your trucks ride quality and steering will suffer if you do. If your really concerned about driving on real bad roads dont lower it

I don't have a hitch. I have a hole in my rear bumper instead of the square hitch below it. I dont mind because I don't tow anything. I am eventually gonna go with the Street Scene smooth roll pan and steps.

Konig: My wheels are off a 2000 L and I just got new Eagle F1's. I just want a more level look and slightly lower than I have now. The roads around here aren't completely terrible, just hilly and curvy. Once in a while I'll find myself on a rough road with some potholes though. I would say about 75% of my driving is highway and city and about 25% is rural.

If you're putting side skirts on it and want it to sit level, you're probably looking at a small 1/2 drop ..or a 3/4...if you dont mind the front being a half inch or so higher than the rear you can do a 2/4 drop instead.. the 1/2 kits are not very noticable though just so you know, most drop kits dont hit the numbers right on if you know what I mean...it will settle and get a little lower after driving around for a while...but not much
