Window Tint

Does anybody know what % the factory tint is on the rear windows for an '02 Screw? I want to tint the front to match (I'll take my chances with the local authorities). I know a guy that will do a professional job for $50 so if I have to take it off, I'm not out much.

You rear glass is 20% or you had 20% put on your fronts?

Thanks fordman. How long have you had the 20% on the front and have you gotten any hassle for it? Have heard some people just get told to take it off and others fined up to $90.

I have a cousin in city council here in my city. I also have a Marine Corp Veteran liscence plate. I was pulled over for running a stop and the officer saw I was a veteran and let me go. I have had every truck and car I own at 20% with no hassles.

There is no rear tint on the windows. It is simply color injected glass. Basically, it's for looks only. In my Screw, I tinited over the back windows and did the front to match. For someone like me living in Texas, blocking the summer sun is very important. I would highly recommend tinting all windows with the metallic film...it makes quite a difference.

Mine are 40% I believe. Florida law requires a 28% visability range. So I've got some room to go.

Hey gschein, just curious as to why you tinted over the colored glass?

I knew the glass was colored and didn't have a tinted film but it still must have some visibility factor (% light allowed through). That's what I was trying to determine.

I tinted the back glass on my last truck. I couldn't see the trailer Iwas towing at night. I even backed into my house.

I need to get me that Vet. plate. Does it work pretty good to get out of little mistakes?

Got my fronts done today. 20%. Look really good. If it ever stops raining in the afternoons here, I'll try to get some more pics taken and added to my gallery.
