Should I install an Aftermarket Hood?

Hello all;

My truck endured some severe hail damage and I need to replace my hood (among other things). I was thinking about using an aftermarket hood, preferrably one with a Mach 1 appearance.

I would like to hear of any good or bad experiences with aftermarket hoods, and/or any suggestions on what qualities to look for in a replacement hood.

thank you in advance for your input.

You need to check out all the aftermarket hoods available, and pick one that appeals to you.

There are several out on the market of good quality and design.
Maybe Harly will come along and post the link of the hood gallery he created.

Anyways, here's the Cervini hood on my truck, very happy with it, and would buy one again.

regards
Habibi

I was looking into the Mach 1 style because, my other car is a 72 Mach 1.

I have seen the Cervini page, and they are a REAL contender.

thank you for your input.

Get off your wallet and go buy one Burt, I know you and Rockpick are rich, LOL

Not like us poor Canadians who have to scrape and beg for every little aftermarket part, haha

Check out the last link in my gallery. its the mod album. got pics of like 30 different' hood options in there

I had a cervini's ram air for 6 months, and now a keystone ram air.

they cervini's was a nice hood, good for the money (439) quality was pretty good, but fit was slightly off (big fender gaps, front contour was a little off, and sat low in the back) but still a good hood, and i'd buy another one since they are so cheap

The keystone was a little more money (599) but it shows in the quality. The fender gaps are perfect, front edge contour matches the grille shell perfect, the only bad thing was it sat high, which i adjusted to fit perfect by bending the rear hinges a bit, and moving the front latch down.

Just depends on your budget. Figure on 300-400 for a good paint job

I have the Reflexxion Cobra hood which is steel. Very heavy and uses new struts to hold up extras pounds but I like it. No issues.

Up N Flames, lemme say that you have one killer truck! Definately one that I admire, especially as it being a 4x4.

I hate to tell you this, but those APC projectors are going to yellow, i have 3 friends that had them, and within a year, they all yelllowed, and now they are all stuck with a $200+ pair of garbage.

Anyways, nice truck, nice hood, nice wheels, nice lower bumper with the fogs [did you have that custom made to fit those lights, and are those xenarc fogs?], and NICE paint job!

Thanks. I know about the yellowing. I think I'll be OK. My truck is under a car cover. If they yellow I'll get the L lights. That's a aftermarket Airdam that came with fogs. Truckmaster design
