Question Plastic bed rail and tail gate caps

One more question, I have the plastic bed rail and tailgate caps. I was wondering if anyone has taken them off. I am planning on Rhino Lining the bed and want to take off the plastic for this application and may leave it off for a cleaner look. It looks like it is just held on by two sided tape. Is it worth the trouble of removing?

Thanks again

looks like its held on with double sided tape, but its not. its held in with a bunch of little clip things, that'll most likely break off when you remove the caps. if you take em off, the tops of your fenders will hvae a ton of holes in them

best thing is to leave them on and get them to spray under the rails up to the caps. if you remove the caps when you put them back on they will look wavy. and the easiest is to buy new ones. my suggestion is to not take them off.

The surface under the caps is unfinished (ie, not smooth metal) It'll look really bad.

Not only that but removing them will most likely break the clips then you'll have to replace the whole thing if you ever change your mind and want to put it back on. I found that out the hard way after the dealer put the cap back on after a paint repair job without using some type of replacement clips. It was held only by the bed rail and so when I changed my mind and removed it the cap probably flipped a few times then landed on someone's car lol. If you need one, go on the George Bush Turnpike .
