I was just wondering how many people actually like the stock side view mirrors? I don't really like them at all. They look a little out of place on the truck if you ask me. I was looking into getting a pair of aftermarket mirrors, if you have a pair already, how do you like them.

 

i call them mickey mouse ears
the 04's make the current gen mirrors look great though! those things are like dumbo ears

I really like the street scenes mirrors like robg and rtkilla have on their L's, but i wish somebody made one that was just a little bigger than that, like inbetween the stock size, and the street scene size. haven't found any yet, although haven't really looked either

 

Hey, at least they look better than the old flat black mirrors that Ford had before changing over.

By the way, does anyone know what year Ford starting using the newer style mirrors?

I noticed that some have the flat black ones and some have the newer chrome or color matching mirrors and was just wondering.

 

I think the XL still uses the flat black mirrors.

The chrome glamor caps are on XLT 4x2 which is usually with the chrome trim on the 3 bar grille.

The painted glamor caps are on XLT 4x4 and Lariat models with the color key trim surround on the honey comb grille.

This is almost a standard, but some plants put trucks together differently, as I have seen XLT 4x2s with the color matched glamor caps and color key trim honey comb grille.
This is without modification by the owner, that is the way it came from the factory ( it was in white on the ones I saw ).
Go figure, I have read that this is a no cost option when ordering the truck, but I did not see it when I ordered mine.
