Headlight Bulbs???

I'm looking for a new pair of headlight bulbs and was wondering what type should I get? I want some that put out that nice white light with a slight blue tint like the luxary cars. How many watt bulbs do you guys recommend and what's a good price for them? I'm planning on getting them off ebay, any good brands I should look for? I'm looking at the 55W or 80/100W bulbs. Thanks guys.

I did some looking around at different bulbs and the top choices I came up with are PIAA, Toucan Xenon Fusion, and APC. The best bulb is PIAA, it comes with a lifetime warranty, but that comes with a very high cost. Xenon bulbs are just as bright but the cost still is high, I tried all three lights in 2 different F150's side by side and there is a very little if any noticable difference in color/brightness, the APC lights were the cheapest but come with no warranty, and the Xenon lights were a fair price but it didn't state if there was any warranty. I decided to use the APC lights. Only because I can see a huge pain in the *** trying to get a replacment for the PIAA's or Xenon under warranty and the cost was way too high for all you gain in light.

You can go to http://www.sylvania.com/auto/carapp/ and search for the correct replacement bulbs for app and be careful for some of the cheaper lights can burn up your harness...just a warning

I have the toucan eurolite fusions. Get on ebay and search for eurolite fusion 9007, and you will get some results. I got mine for 23 dollars shipped, with insurance. Not a bad price. The lights are brighter, wont burn up the harness (ive been told), and give off a bluish hue. Im happy with them.

I've seen a few other brands on ebay selling for cheap. What do you guys think of MATRIX's 80/100w bulbs? I've also seen some 65/55w bulbs for real cheap if you guys think the 80/100w are too bright. How many watts are the bulbs you guys are using? Do they blind other drivers? I've heard Matrix is a good brand that can even stand up to PIAA. What do you guys think? Thanks.

I just got a pair of silver stars at auto zone and got the $10/off rebate (ask for the form). I even got the wife (Hapy) to put 'em in and send off the rebate. Does it get any better than this?

Hey guys, just putting in my .02 cents. I have the Toucan eurolite xenons in the headlights and the fog lights and they look great ! Really have a nice bluish hue to them and still have good brightness. I just put in the SilverStars in the wifes minivan and they work great too. However, the SilverStars do not seem to have any bluish tint to them. They do seem to be very brilliant white and really light up the road at night. Guess all in all just depends on what 'look' you're going for

stick with a light you know wont fry your harness. 80/100 is too bright i think, will blind on coming drivers, you will get your ights flashed at you constantly... and i think have the potential to fry your harnesses. Stick with stock wattage.

What do the rest of you think? You think I should stay away from the 80/100w bulbs? Has anyone had problems with this wattage being too bright or burning up the wiring harness? Thanks.

Can you guys compare the bluish hue to a luxuary cars? Like a BMW? How blue do the Eurolite xenons look? I'm looking for a slight blue tint, not too much. Can you guys give a comparison to them? Any others? thanks for the help so far guys.

Falcon11,

Get the Silverstars. Not much blue to them, just a nice white output.
RockPick said they are worth the cash, but he went with the Xenarc upgrade.

I had a set of Flosser 80/100W in mine, and when doing the single bulb comparison the Silver Star seemed brighter when projected on the white wall in the back of my garage.
The pass side had the Flosser, and the drivers side had the silver star when I did the test.
I think 98 went with a different brand of 80/100W bulbs that he said did not have the yellow look to them like the Flossers.
Will you fry your harness, no. The 80/100W bulb draws less then the 80% ratting of the fuse ( 10A on low beam ). Some people claim that the stock harness wil not take this, but I guess that means that Ford designed the harness to melt before taking out the fuse ( sounds right does it ? ). After 18 months of the 80/100W no signs of weaking in the connector nor cracking in the harness. My last truck still has the 80/100W bulbs in it, and it is 8 years old now, no signs of connector failure yet.

I too put the HID look bulb in mine with teh higher wattage with no problems so far, if the harness does get crisp you can replace it with a heavy harness for $19.95 from most speed shops I have seen them in, not that they would be any better but atleast you can get lights working again without a trip to the dealer.
I have gotten to the point where I can't drive the wife's car becuase of the YELLOWISH lights..... It is amazing what you can get used to!

PIAA are over prices in my opinion. I have been running with MAX Xenon Superwhites for 2 years and had no problems with 100/80w. You just need to make sure you use electrical grease on the connections. Helps keep the moisture out.
