Where do you pass the power wire?

Where do you pass the amp power wire from the engine side to inside the cabin? This is for a 02 F150 Harley and it will be a 4 ga wire. Thanks.

Through the rubber grommet on the firewall behind the gas pedal.

Why not do it on the other side where the battery is?

Yes, do it on the other side. You will have less chance of picking up Noise and you'll save money. I had to run 000. There's another grommet under the pass. side door sill. (if you need that big of hole).

Yea ill take some pics later for ya.........but basically right behind the battery is a hole, you run the wire down that, and it goes right down the wheel well, it will be above the plastic wheel well cover thingee. it will come out below your truck......down there you should see a rubber grommet which you can run the wire up into the cab through. when you pop off the covers on the door sill there is plenly of room for the power wire and anything else.

Ok that makes more sense to me, if you could snap some pictures that would be great but it's of course no rush, I really appreciate your help.

Thumbs up

I ran mine the same way. Once you pop off the door sill, the grommet is about a foot from the front door jam. I found it easier to pop the grommet out, and cut a hole in it with an Xacto knife. Make sure to use some slicone or something similar to seal up the grommet very well. You don't want any water or winter slush slinging up in there from the front tire. I used some black RTV silcone and sealed it top and bottom. You might want to also put a wire loom on the power wire up until it enters the grommet at least. The front tire could also sling a rock or two up there, and that would ruin your day.,,,,98

why would you pick up noise? power wire does NOT have anything to do with noise in a system.

You can either go through the drivers side or passanger side. I say just do what ever is easier for you. SpankDog seems to have a good idea and the pictures he posted really helps out, just if you go that route just make sure the wire is far enough and secured under the car so something doesnt snag it.

In those pictures i didn't secure the wire yet, but you can bet that in a lightning I wont ever be doing any off roading. But in your case if that part of the truck has a chance of hitting something i might take some more time and run it through the firewall.

you have factory wire under the truck that runs to the tial light and what not its just zip tied to the frame and rapped in loom...if you keep it tight against the truck then you should have any problems running it under the truck...but me personialy would rather run it through the fire wall.
