Bridging 2 subs
Bridging 2 subs
How do you run 2 4 ohm subs into a single channel bridged? If memory serves correct you hook the neg to the pos on the 2 speakers and then hook the remaining pos and neg to the bridged channel on the amp correct?

You can have a 2 or 8 ohm load, you need to see if your amp can handle a 2ohm mono load, if not you'll burn it up.

Thats just what i needed to know. Iwas going to wire it 8 ohms instead of 2 if i wouldnt of posted here. Thanks. Will most amps handle 8 ohms bridged? I have an american pro 600w. Im not sure if its 2 ohm stable or not.
Most amps are stable at 2ohms stereo, not mono. When you bridge the amp it is running mono, because of running multi channels into one. It will be fine at 8ohms, my subs are 8ohms(each) running parallel, which is a 4ohm load, my amp is only stable at 2ohms in stereo mode. Allot of people burn up their amps because they see 2ohm stable on them, so they bridge parallelwith two 4 ohm subs, make a 2ohm load, and the amp can't handle it. If you have DVC subs or 8ohm subs it's ok, cause you can make a 4ohm load.
Ive been reading up on it on the net and it says it is 2 ohm stable in stereo mode only. Glad i didnt go ahead and wire it up that way. Do you loose power running at 8 ohms? I am getting another kicker comp vr that is 4 ohms. I have a single comp vr bridged now.
