Question 800 watts.....PPI or RF Punch

Which one would be a better amp. The RF Punch 800a2 or the PPI PCX 2200? Will be using a 1 farad cap.

I will be using it for my sub box. It has two RF 15" DVC @ 8 ohms each. Both are paralleled and messure 4 ohms (actual resistance is 3.7 ohms).

* Both amps are priced the same. Which one to get??????
* Battery is 14.22 V with A/C on, high beams on raidio turned up high pushing a MRV F-405.
* Stock atrernator HD 130 amps.

PPI 800 watts @ 2 ohms @ 12v
Punch 943 watts @2 ohms @ 14v

Thanks

I am very partial to PPI as long as it's their Powerclass series (PCX-xxxx). If you look at your figures, the PPI will probably put out around 943 Watts at 14V, like the RF. I have an older PC2100 and am using it for components. Next to my old Autotek Mean Machine, it is the best amp I have ever owned. PPI amps are known for their clarity and range. For a sub applications, though, either amp would do well. Distortion levels (THD) on both amps will be inaudible, and range is a necessity only for mids and highs. The PPI will probably play lower because of a greater frequency response (range at which amp is effective), but no one can hear 10Hz anyway. If I were you, I would stick to Rockford....just so your subs and amps match...

Well..................I wanted to buy the Rockford but every time I would go in to buy it, I would change my mind. It took the fourth trip to buy the PPI PCX-2200. Several people I talked with said the Rockford was the way to go but I just wasn't sure. Let me tell you what sold me on the PPI. For one, RF is now being mass produced. Before, they were, I believe, hand built. Now, they are made over seas and RF is going for QUANTITY not QUALITY. Everyone sells RF now-and-days. I had a hard time finding PPI Distributors...............The real selling point was plain and simple.......The PPI was just heavyer.........Now I have to find where to bolt it down to..........

PS...........I hate passing up on a deal...NEW..$399.00 + tax

Congrats.... Like I said, I prefer PPI also. I have heard the same about RF stuff now and that has actually turned me off to anything Rockford makes. BTW, that is an awesome price for that amp!!!!

PPI's have tightly regulated power supplies. Do not assume that it will differ from it's rated power by much regardless of voltage. PPI puts out their rated power from 10v or 10.5v up.
That being said, you bought the right amp
