REM wire on amp?

REM wire on amp?
I'm trying to hook up an amp to my 99 Ford F150 SuperCab.
I hooked up the line converter, got all the wires done right in that department. The 10# power cable lead from the positive terminal of the battery, through the firewall, to the amp POWER inlet.
A short black ground wire was hooked up to the GROUND inlet and the other end fastened to a bolt which attaches the rear seats to the body and frame.
The REM (or remote switch) for the amp is what's screwing me up now... the thin blue wire we attached to it is okay, but the stock headunit doesn't have an antenna switch which is what the REM would normally tap into... so what do I do? I tried hooking it up to a bunch of different fuses and empty slots in the fusebox, and the only time we got anything even close to powering the amp was the PROTECT light flashing on twice when we put the wire into a 5A fuse and turned the ignition.
How do I get this blasted thing to power up?

Hmm, sound's like your ground is not good, and that's why the protect light came on. Maybe you need less voltage across the trun on wire, but I doubt it. Check the ground and the power wires, then power the turn on wire again. I'd hook up the radio, turn it on and off to find a power wire that is switched by the radio if possible, and tap that.

another idea for the remote wire would be to wire directly to a "switch" fuse in the fuse box. This way its protected by a small fuse, and its switched with the ignition.
As far as the other problems stated, I agree with 2000 F, check all the grounds and powers and make sure all the connections are good.

Alright...
Alright...toss the junk 10 ga., and get 8 ga....wire an inline, waterproof fuse block right by the battery, run it to the amp. Ground to a sanded part of the cab floor, not an existing galvanized bolt...use stainless bolts and washers. Run the blue remote wire to the head unit and tap it into the black wire with the pink stripe using a wire tap connector. Enjoy.
