Need help with wiring to the right ohm!
I think the planet audio amps are nice.. But I'm almost certain that it's gonna put out WAAAY more power than I need right now. I'd be replacing these subs in a month after the amp eats them alive.
I like the soundstream 600..... But I can't find deminsions on it anywhere? Need to know the size and depth.
And I'm worried that even the 600 will give me more than I need. I'd like the subs to last as long as possible.
I understand clipping/distortion complications. And I know that it will help with the gains all the way down... But there's a point where too much power is just plain TOO much power.
Think the soundstream would work? The subs are 150-250 rms.
That's gonna be a ton of power....

If you want to feed them 500rms, I'd look at an amp that can do around 550-750rms. That way it allows you to keep the gains back so it doesn't clip, distort, or overheat the amp.
But if you don't mind actually setting the gain levels and bass levels, you could throw a big amp on their and be fine. Before I downsized and got a smaller amp for my truck so it fit under the seat, I had an amp that did around 1700rms running a sub that takes about 300rms for about 6 months, and never had a problem. Just gotta take the time to make sure it's all set right.

I like the alpine. I saw this amp the other day on the same site... But it seems a little under powered, doesn't it?
I like the idea of the MTX just for the sake of plenty of power for down the road. Everybody upgrades at some point.
Isn't the 1000.1 a little much for the subs I'm driving? They are 300 (peak).
I don't want to over drive them. Rockford entry subs don't like being over powered.
However the alpine doesn't seem like it's got enough power per channel when it's all said and done.
Am I right? Or way off?

You want to go with a mono block subwoofer amp which are single channel amps. You will wire the two 4ohm subs together to present a single channel 2ohm load to the amplifier. Then you will look for a mono(single channel) amp the will give you 250watts + 250watts or 500watts total @ 2ohms.
The Alpine amp is rated at 500 watts @ a 2ohm load which will give each of those subs 250 watts each. Exactly what you wanted! And for $129.99 you can't beat the price for a quality name brand amp.
The MTX amp is rated for 600 watts @ 2ohms which would give each sub 300 watts each. If that amp doesn't produce its rated power, then you would still be around 500 watts total or 250 watts per sub. Exactly where you wanted to be.
The big advantage of the MTX amp is that it would give you 1000 watts @ 1ohm, which means later down the road if you could run 4 of those same subs or you could run two 2ohm subs that are rated for 500 watts each.
Leaves some room for upgrading subs without having to get another amp.
Hope this helps
The soundstream dimensions were at the bottum of the spec's, here ya go
Dimensions: 9-5/8"L x 6-1/2"W x 2-1/8"H. The part I don't like about the soundstream is the signal to noise ratio at 85db's. the planet audio amp is 100db's. The adjustable bass *** and set the gains down an your subs would be fine. Each sub could get a max of 425 watts rms each but with the gain backed way off it would produce much less. Your call but the lower the gains the cooler the amp will run and the cleaner the sound will be with out pushing a lesser amp to its max all the time.

Whoooops! Sorry... I didn't see the dimensions on there at first.
I think I'm gonna go with the Soundstream 600 mono amp.
I ran it past my buddy and he preferred the soundstream over the others. Hopefully the subs will hold up for a while.
I greatly appreciate all the help from you all. Thanks everyone!
Hopefully I can get this setup done and finally start working on my own system in my supercrew.
Thanks again guys.
