MS-8 or 5-channel Amp?
MS-8 or 5-channel Amp?
Hi everyone. I have a 2007 F150 with the regular stereo. I am planning to replace my 5x8's all around with components front and good coax's rear. I also plan to add a subwoofer. My dilemma is this. I have a brand new MS-8 sitting in the box. It puts out 30 watts at 2ohms. I am planning to run Infinity Kappa 680.9cs' which are 2ohm. The question is do I use the MS-8 and then buy an additional monoblock amp for the sub or do I just sell the MS-8 and go with a five channel AMP. The MS-8 is worth around $350 on the open market I think so that would buy me a decent 5-channel amp. What do you guys think?
How much tuning are you going to do? One of the main reasons people get the MS-8 is for its tuning abilities, as an additional component of the system with other amps powering the speakers and subs.
If you just want some good sound without purchasing an amp for each speaker set then I would go with the JL XD700/5. Can be purchased on Amazon for $385. Amp the tweeters and mids seperately and leave the rears on the deck. Use channels 5&6 bridged for the sub.
