Amp Install Help and Tips

I have a 2003 Supercrew and i have a pioneer sub and rocksford fosgate amp in my possession. I new help tying into my stock head unit. A buddy of mine told me to go to Radio Shack and tell them i want a "left and right plug to hook up to my stock radio for an amp." i was wondering if there was a simpler way to do this or not. Also let me know how yall did it. im new to this forum and audio equipment so please be as descriptive as you can. Thanks in advance, Daniel2222

I think what your buddy is referring to is an rca cord which you do need but I wouldn't get it from radio shack and you need more than just that. You also need a loc (line out converter). The stock head unit doesn't have rca output so you have to take the signal from the speaker wires and it'll convert it to something the amp can read. Unless, your amp has line level inputs in which case you can tap of the speaker wire for either the front two or rear two speakers and use that as your input.

it has a red and white plug that says input, and then a red and white plug that says pass-thru.

you dont even have to take out the radio

the speaker wires are run along the driver sill. look up the colors and tap in with those t clamps. no splicing nothing. you can add a LOC to convert line level to RCA, some amps use line level inputs and you dont even need the RCA/LOC. i use both

i now have x3 alpine amps, x2 rockford DVC 10", 4 rockford 5x8 speakers
