Amp Confusion

Hi there, I have a Kenwood BT848U HU installed along with Alpine SPS517 Type-S speakers in my front doors of my 01 supercrew. I still have the stock rear door speakers. I want to add a 10 inch sub under the seat, not sure which sub yet, but I would like some guidance in picking out an amp. I know that I want a 5channel amp. If anyone has any sub recommendations, please chime in. And if anyone can clear up how to wire in the amp, that would be great too (rcas and how to wire speakers and such). Thanks

Whats your price range on this? That would help to narrow down what would be best for you.

Are you going to stay with the Alpine 5x7 fronts or move them to the rear and upgrade to 6.5 components?

$400 for a 5 channel can be done. Normally 5 channels and up command a higher price tag.

Good sub choices that are staples around here are the Image Dynamics ID10 and Dayton HO.

The ID10 is a dual voice coil so I would get the 4ohm version. This way you will have a final 2ohm load.

The Dayton HO is a single voice coil at 4ohm. This means you will need a much beefer amp to get enough juice at 4ohm.

Here are a few choices in amps.

To me an Image Dynamics ID10D4 with the Image Dynamics i5800 amp seems like a good combo.

Amp...

I bought an alpine 5-channel for $400 (authorized dealer price).
50WRMSx4 plus sub channel.
Alpine MRX-V60
Running great (IMO).
One option for you.
