Ok so my amp is shot. What amp do you guys suggest to run a kicker cvr 10'' sub. It is 800w peak power and 400 rms. I dont wanna spend a fortune. Tops like $250

A good 500w amp would work good as long as you dont crank the gain all the way up and keep the volume all the way up all the time. Kicker amps are good and you can get a 500w for right around $250. Also rockford fosgate makes good amp for good prices. Depending on what model you get, a RF 500w can be anywhere from $150-300.

Since the CVR is 4ohm DVC you can bridge a 4 channel amp like the MB Quart ONX4.80 to 2 channels and run each VC off of a channel pushing a total of around 640 watts at 4ohm to the entire sub (320W at 4ohm to each channel). The MB Quart ONX4.80 does close to rated from what most say (ONX4.150 did 173W each channel on a bench test) and is only $130 from SonicElectronix which is an authorized internet dealer for MB Quart

Is the sub dual 4 or dual 8 . I would stay with a mono block amp which is design to handle the current draw that subs require. The problem with running multi channels to the same sub is unless you have a RTA or a sine wave generator to ensure both channels are producing the same exact signal it will damage the sub.what happen is you have a difference is signal from each channel going to the same speaker cone and the voice coils cant work again each other.

its a dvc and 4ohms. I looked at the diagram on how tho wire it on crutchfield. http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchf...4-ohm_mono.jpg

Now does this turn it into 2 ohms? So should i look for a mono amp with 400w or close to it at 2 ohms or 4 ohms?

that wire diagram is correct, also you are correct look for a amp rated at 2 ohms remember you can never have to much power. when you have more power then needed you can adjust the amp to the speakers needs and not harm the speaker, but when it's under power and you try to jam it your putting distortion into he system and thats bad for speakers.

Quite a few choices in the < $250 range.

Any limitations on mounting location?

Here are few that would work well.

I personnaly would be looking at mono class D amps. They run cooler and are more efficient.
