A Few Wiring Questions

Hello,

I'm new to the world of amp setups and subs. Right now I'm wanting to put a simple 10" sub in the backseat of my truck. I'm sure it's been done many of times, so this probably wont be hard to help me with.

Currently my head unit is the Pioneer DEH-P5900IB http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130DEHP...ures_and_specs

When I wire my amp I also want to wire a remote bass control ****. The one i have chose is the Scosche RLC http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...osche-RLC.html

My question is how would this item be wired into the amplifier?

My suggestion is to get an amp that has a remote bass **** part of the package. For example, this amp has a remote bass **** and will wire directly to your HU:

You don't want to really mess with the RCA signal from HU to amp unless using a high quality sound processor unit.

You say you have a Pioneer head unit? Does that model have seperate Pre=amp outputs dedicated to just subs? If it does i'm sure the headunit already as an area where you can adjust the sub only level.

If not...you should be matching the amp gains with the head unit, and leave it! The majority of the "bass *****" you see that come with amps are NOT level *****...they are Bass boost knos which are basically 1 frequency eqs. Usually these bass boosts are set at a certain freq such as 45hz, and you adjust the boost at that freq....and this does not mess with the gain levles of your sub system.

Okay, yes my headunit has Sub Pre-Amp outputs. I do remember seeing a section for controlling the sub through the headunit.

EDIT: Just read my book for my Head Unit. Great info in there lol. My original concern was controlling the bass for the amp and sub through the headunit causing problems with controlling the bass in my speakers. My head unit has a HPF (high pass filter) to avoid this. This way the speakers cut off and don't play bass levels allowing your sub to take them all.

Thanks for the help everyone!
