You don't have to use an LOC to run an amp off the factory HU. I'm running an amp using speaker level input from my stock 09 HU and it works fine and sounds very good.

Ok I thought so I'm still not sure what has to be wired instead of the RCA cables. I've never messed with my trucks sound system before but it cant be that difficult to set up can it? The sub, box and amp should be here friday.

If you don't have RCA outputs on the HU and the amp has speaker level inputs you just send all the speaker wires to the amp and then to the speakers. If it's a mono amp for a sub then I think you only need to use one set (left and right rear) I don't know where you bought your equipment but if they have a tech line they should be able to help you out with which wires go where. For that matter there is a lot of good info and videos on Crutchfield and other sites that will give you a better understanding of what to do.
I have put in stereos in many of my vehicles and it doesn't bother me to cut wires which is a good thing because I had to cut all the speaker wires on my 09 to wire my amp.

got the sub/box on ebay and the amp from a friend. Yes it is a mono amp. if i send the rear speaker wires to the amp would i lose volume or wouldnt it not sound as good? id rather not replace my speakers with the sub, but make the sub an addition to all four speakers

Here I will tell you I'm not a pro at this stuff, I just know things from trying so maybe someone else can jump in on this.
You won't lose your rear speakers, just tap into them. My opinion is that just tapping into the rear speaker wires to send signal to the amp will not cause the rear speakers to lose volume or atleast not enough that you'd notice. I was running a Bazooka powered tube sub in my last truck and all I had to do was get power and speaker wires to it. It didn't degrade the sound of the speakers I tapped into as far as I could tell.

You should be fine with tapping the rear speaker leads. No loss in volume, or at worst very little. I did that on my last truck and just added a sub to factory speaks.

It should work

If the amp has speaker level inputs you do not need one and can save 50 bucks.

so long story short it wasnt the amp i thought and was really a discontinued 2 channel that would run at 2 ohms so i took it to a shop where they installed everything including LoC and a kenwood KAC-8105d amp under the back center seat and a bass **** to the left of my cig lighter.
