Problems with Amp
Problems with Amp
Ok so here's the situation. I have a 400W JBL Amp and a 10" JL 200W subwoofer in a Atrend downfire box. Those are the continuous wattages not the max. I've ran all the wire and everything and am having a problem actually getting the amp to turn on. I have 8 ga power wire that will spark when touched to metal so i know the it has power going to it. I also have a remote wire that i put in a wire nut with a blue/white wire that was behind my deck. I'm assuming that was where the remote wire was suppose to go. I've connected the ground to a couple different places...the bolts that hold the jack into place and a bolt on the passenger seat. I can't get the amp to turn on though. Is it a bad ground connection? If i just hold the ground and then touch it to one of these two places the amp will turn on for a split second and then turn off. Then it wont do it again for awhile. Any help would be great.
It could be a bad ground i have my ground under my vinyl floor on the passenger side under the passenger back seat there is a huge bolt that you can get an excellent ground from. You can also test to see if it is your remote wire by running a wire from your remote spot on your amp to the power spot and if it turns on then then it is your remote wire. Good Luck, man. Let us know what happens.
Ground
It was the ground. Ran it to a different spot and used a copper top. Amp started right up. The system sounds good! I have to tweak it a little bit but glad everything is going good now. Thanks for the help.
get rid of the wire nut and use a crimp on connector. Wire nuts are made for home use and they will rattle loose over time.
