Speakers buzzing
Speakers buzzing
Hello all,
I have been lurking on here for a while and I finally decided to get off my tight butt and get some sounds.
I replaced my head unit with a Pioneer AVH 4200 DVD.
Installed, very nicely I might add, a 1200 watt 4 channel amp behind the seat. Then cut the carpet behind the seat around the amp. Looks neat.
I had previously installed Infinity separates up front.
So I have two sets of RCAs going to the amp. one for fronts and one for subs. I purchased an amp kit from a local audio shop and "THE GUY" "GAVE" me an extra set of RCAs. I used the new RCA cable on the sub. The one out of the box is on the fronts.
Long story short is I am getting a weird buzz from my fronts only when my interior light come on and dim off when the door is opened while the unit is on. I have grounded the head unit directly... no help.
The rear speakers are directly from the head unit and I have not noticed any noise when the light comes on. I figured the cheap Kole amp was the culprit, but the sub doesn't seem to make any noise either. I also get a slight hiss from the fronts when the HU is on an input that isn't hooked up and I turn the volume up. Maybe normal and not an issue but I do not want the buzz from the light.
RCAs and power wire are in separate door sills and never cross. Speaker wires running from amp to the fronts are ran between passenger front seat and transmission hump.
Whats your best guess? Replace front RCA cables? Ground loop thingy?
Thanks in advance... just want it all to be perfect.

Well the hiss is coming from the amp. The gains are set too high. That and probably a cheap amp with a high noise to it. Lights dimming and affecting door speakers, you got me there. Trace all the speaker wireing going into the doors, something might be pinched when you open them. Only thing i can think of.
Thanks. It is directly related to the interior lights. I only say that because it fades as the lights cut off. If I turn the dimmer so that the interior lights don't come on there is no noise.
Only lasts for a second or two.
Also the amp is set at 1/2 to 3/4
