Im running an old school memphis 500d to mine and it works decent. Ive read that they really like to be in the 600w range to work the best.

If you choose the Alpine SWR-1222D sub then you can go with the Alpine MRP-M500, which pumps out 500w at 2 ohms. If you choose the Alpine SWR-1242D sub, take a look at the Alpine MRP-M1000, it delivers 600w at 4 ohms. These recommendations are for single sub applications. Either one won't break the bank. If you want to spend a little more to have one of the best amps on the market go with the Alpine PDX-1.600, it produces 600w and is really sweet...

Here's my M500...

Youve got that backwards...the 1222D is Dual 2 ohm voice coils, meaning wiring the VC in parallel gives you a 1 ohm load, and in series gives you a 4 ohm load. So you would want the MRP-1000 (600 at 4) for the 1222D. The 1242D can be wired in parallel down to 2 ohms, or in series at 8 ohms. The MRP-500 gives you 500 at 2 ohms, making it the perfect match for the 1242, even though those subs can stand anywhere from 600-700 watts rms easily.

The Alpine SWR-1222D is a 12" Subwoofer (2Ω + 2Ω)... The Alpine SWR-1242D is a
12" Subwoofer (4Ω + 4Ω).

I understand that. You listed the MRP M500 (500w at 2 ohms) for the 1222D. Theres no way to make a dual 2 ohm voice coil sub show 2 ohms at an amp. Its either 1 ohm or 4 ohms.

Options for the 1222D Dual 2 ohm

ok. Is the 1242 or the 1222 better? cause the mrp 500 is $150 cheaper than the MRP 1000.

I have a type R 12 that im running off a 500w amp down to 2 ohms that id be willing to cut you a decent deal. Let me know what you planned on spending on it and ill see if i can save you some $$
Ive only been using mine for a few months. Its in a box, but it wont do you anygood unless you raise your seat because i have a standard cab.

We are close enough to where travel wouldnt be a problem.
I would have sent you a PM but u dont have that checked for 'members to allowed to send pm's'. So if you might be interested send me a pm.
