Ignition Wire
Ignition Wire
I have a pioneer 3100 DVD. I did the video in motion bypass with a relay on the remote turn on wire and everything else needed. It worked as it should. Later, when I hooked up my amp, I connected the remote turn on wire off radio and remote turn on wire from amp together with one of those crimp things. I then attached the crimped remote wires to the relay where it goes. Now my amp turns on great, but my video in motion bypass no longer works. For some reason the current will not go to the amp and relay at the same time. The relay must have more resistance than the amp. I want to find another hook up for the amp remote turn on wire.
My question is, at the fuse box, can I just slide out the fuse #7 labeled radio (start signal), wrap the amp remote turn on wire around one of the legs, then slide it back in? Are on the radio/factory adaptor, I could splice into the Red wire [controlled by ignition switch (12V DC)] between the fuse resistor to the receiver and the adaptor to the factory horness.

I would recommend going to the swtiched source as opposed to wrapping wire around a fuse like that. Just make sure you add a fuse inline with your remote wire within a few inches of your tap at the 12v switched.
Not exactly sure what a switched source is, but I don't want to have to flip a switch to turn the amps on and off. My other two options that I have researched it to redo the bypass using a toggle switch instead of a relay or use a Tapa-Circuit. I guess the other thing I could do is tap into the wiring after the relay, where the current returns to the receiver. I may just try, atleast the current would go through the relay before splitting. If I add a fuse, I think 5A would be enough. Am I correct?
OK, thanks. So I can just tap in at the adaptor between the receiver and the factory harness. The red and black wire. Thanks for your help.
Also, when tapping into the switched circuit, do I tap in on the Pioneer wire between the receiver and the fuse resistor OR between the fuse resistor and the factory adaptor?
you talking about that lil black piece on the wire off the pioneer harness? Go on the truck side of that.

Yes, the actural plug is black and their is a black fuse resistor. I'm calling it a fuse resistor because that's how pioneer has it labeled in the installation guide. It's probably just a regular fuse. Hey thanks a bunch for your help. I will tap in on the truck side and add a 5A fuse.
