Amp board install - does your back wall look like this?

Okay, I finally got off my duff and removed the backseat - what a total pain in the rear to get the seat back off. I want to install two amps back here - an Alpine PDX 5 and my RF 500bd.

Is this what the back wall looks like in the 04-08 model? Do I remove the cover or mount the amps on top of the cover? Just doesn't look like a lot of space to mount anything.

Thanks in adance for any input/guidance! Here are a couple of pics:

That's different for sure. Really need to pull off that felt covering the back wall though. The lump in the center is the power rear window motor. But I imagine you could mount 2 boards on both sides of that. I see they made the seat back connect different now and the seat floor bolts are part of the truck.

Here's a photo of my amp rack after installing everything. I just don't have the power window in the back and i replaced the shoulder belt with a lap belt.

I took that felt cover thing off when I did my install. Never did get around to putting it back on.

Trial and error is what you gotta do. Took me a while but I finally fit everything AND was able to keep the window motor, seatbelt rack and remote unlock box. Backseat still goes right back on:

So the 04-08 models came with the felt piece as well?

Yep. I tore it out, no need for it. Its just another piece of material that can cause unwanted noise.

He took the felt out and bolted in a carpeted board for mounting I believe. That is the reason for no raised areas.

By the way, If you do take out the felt and put in a board to mount everything on, then you will want to use some sound deadener on that back wall if you have not planned on it yet. Actually no matter what, you should deaden that back wall at a minimum. There are several good "tutorials" on this site for doing this and if you notice, all three of the people who posted up pictures of their install did exactly that.

what a total pain in the rear to get the seat back off
Truer words have never been spoken !!! I feel for you guys who have to turn around and put that POS rear seat right back in ! Heck, I hacked those studs off, right down to the top of the nuts, and built a nice, carpeted, 3/4" flooring plywood rear wall and floor. It looked so clean.... still kicking myself for not taking photos of it at that stage. I was just in such a hury to mount my amp, and get my enclosure in

But yea', without a seat to cover it (or a custom built false rear wall and floor like I built) that rear wall and floor, are a completely screwed up, unlevel, lumpy, bumpy, unfinished looking mess !

Peace,
Fish

PS,
Actually no matter what, you should deaden that back wall at a minimum.
I'm sure this wouldn't hurt anything. Might make it a little quieter. But let me put it this way, for the day or two I had everything ripped off the back wall, and hadn't put in the new one yet, it was (as eluded to above) LOUD as heck ! I was really asking myself, if I was making a big mistake ! But after putting in my 3/4" high density plywood wall, with carpeting on both sides of it, it became at least as quiet as it was before, if not a little quieter..... and not only did I not use any deadener on the back wall, I don't have any deadener anywhere in my truck ! I do want to do my doors and roof one of these days, because I think deadener in my doors will make my mids + highs smoother, and the roof, because that's where most of my rattles come from when I crank up techno bass tracks. But my back wall has never been a problem.
