Those are really nice amps and they are super small but a bit on the $$$ as with most JL equipment. If you can find a good dealer they will help you out and bring the price down a bit though. I was able to get my 500/1v2 for ~$415.00 and my 13TW5 for ~$339.00 -- both from authorized dealers.

I'm also in need of an amp for my mids/highs and if I don't get a 300/2v2 or a 300/4v2 to stack on top of my 500/1v2 I'm going to get a 900/5.

honestly speaking, don't get a 5 channel unless you never ever want to upgrade your system. I did this when I first started getting back into car audio and wasted $500 doing this. Soon I wanted more powerful subs and ended up removing the amp since it couldn't run everything I wanted. Then I had to get a 4 channel and monoblock. So understand it's much more cost effective to get a 4 channel for doors and a separate monoblock amp for the subs.

Alpine PDX5 is a similar amplifier and you can pick one up for half the cost of the JL

the 900/5 is 100 x4 and a 500 mono. for the money it is actually cheaper than buying a 300/4 and a 500/1. the pdx is alot smaller. it is 75 x4 and a 300x1. it is alot cheaper but you can tell a difference. i've got two pdx amps (4.150 and 2.150) and i could tell a difference when i took out my slash amps. the highs are better but the sub is not as loud. there is not a small monoblock in the pdx stuff. but the jl 900/5 should be plenty for anything you could do in the truck within reason of space for subs.

This is true, however my friend benched his PDX5 at 98x4 and 384x1 so it is clearly underrated. I find it strange that the higher frequencies sounded better to you on the PDX amp as it is class D circuitry unlike your previous amp which is class A/B. The PDX series are also known to have a very noticeable floor noise. Im pretty sure there is a monoblock PDX, 1000.1 I believe. The 4.150 is a beast of an amp, some of the loudest sound systems I've heard were PDX powered with multiple 4.150s. (4 midranges in the kickpanels...per side )

The JL 900/5 is a wonderful piece of equipment for these trucks, but again is very pricey.

the pdx is monoblock in a 600.1 and 1000.1 but both of those are way too much for the jl 10w3 i've got so I had to run the two channel to get the "300" watts which the jl mono block was better on that aspect (250/1) but the pdx 4.150 did do better on the highs the the 300/4 did. but like most thinks it all a matter of opinion I guess. but the 900/5 is very expensive that is for sure.

If you like kicker they havve the 700.5. 5 channel amp I have it and it works great but I only needed 300 watts for my subs. It puts out only 420watts to the subs. They are pretty cheap @ onlinecarstereo I ran the jl10w1v2 for my bass
