Another what amp question
Another what amp question
running a kenwood ddx512 with db571 speakers all around. I am trying to avoid a sub not really that into that much bass. But I need more volume with windows down I need about 4 more clicks on the dial.
Thinks 4x50 rms does this sound about right? And any recomendations on a mid priced amp that will fit behind the seat?
Thanks for any help

60w rms. So find a nice 4 channel that will do about 100w RMS. Dial the amp down and you won't be pushing that much power. Plus that gives you room to upgrade down the road. IMO you'll want to add a sub even if it's a small one. So the question that remains is how much can you spend? A solid amp is going to be around $250-300. You can get cheaper but they are cheaper for a reason.

That's nice but no room for improvement and you'll never hear the full potential of the speakers.
Look at it like this.... Your speakers can play and handle 60w all day long giving you their best, nice thing is they can probably handle more like 75w RMS all day.
Now you're wanting to put an amp in that at it's best can push 50w but it's rarely going to hit those levels because, unless you listen to death metal, you rarely will see music at 100% volume 100% of the time. So in the end you'll max the levels out on the amp and head unit. Then when you push it, it's going to heat up fast and it will start clipping at the amp and probably the head unit.
Really get a more powerful amp.

Impact this is were I am at, I like the setup now but needs just a little more oommph when I want to really crank it. I listen to country and old rock mostly.
my 2 options are amp speakers, buy subs and amp them and not speakers.
I think the subs would really make the system sound good and full. But would lose under seat space and can not fold up seats after ward.
I can amp the speakers but not sure if it will give me what I want also I have the molex plugs in front and do not want to drill into anything.
what are your thoughts.

Get one of those 4 channel amps. Down the road if you feel the need for a sub you can move the speakers powered off the rear channel to run off the front channels. The amp will see a 2 ohm load on those front channels and be just fine still running all 4 speakers. Only down side is you'll loose some sound staging but stereo sound will be fine.
Then bridge the rear channels to power a future sub. Don't worry too much about loosing space. There are many compact enclosures and shallow mount subs out there that will let you raise the seat still. if the enclosure is in the way, just disconnect and securing the speaker wires will let you remove the sub quickly. I did it all the time when I had my q-logic 10" sub enclosure.
Installing a amp isn't too hard. Many of us have just installed the amps on the rear wall behind the back seat. Just mount a piece of MDF back there using screws and secure the amp to that. There are several dozen installs on this forum showing this. That should be the only drilling that needs to be done. The rest is just routing wires.

Installing the Amp I think I got but to run the speaker wire to the front speakers. I have that molex plug so I will have to drill new holes in jam or drill out the molex plug neither of these sounds to good. Or run the the front speakers off the factory harness. Also were is a good place to get rca and amp power wires and stuff?

I forget these later models have those square plugs. Really though drilling a nice clean hole and installing gromits isn't a bad thing.
