My Coustic Sub amp :help:
My Coustic Sub amp :help:
I think this is the amp.. My sony sub rattles , it is real bad sounding.. It could be an air leak in the box but I doubt it .. The sub is downfiring and in the perfect size enclosure.. I notice when i play really hard bass the sub sort of makes a fluttering , rumble kind of sound almost like it is starving for power.. So today I removed the seat again and to my suprise my coustic 241se amp has some kind of oily liqued stuff on top around the vents.. Any one heard of anything like this??? I am thinking about trying a different amp.. If that doeant work I guess its time to re silicone the box again and also re liquid nail the box... I just dont think it's the box because it has been liqued nailed inside and outside on all the seams.. I guess I will pull the sub tommorrow again as well...
Man my sub amp gets hot quick , Not just your normal hot but you almost cant touch it.. Anyway the coustic amp has probably had it. the specs were
2 x 60W @ 4 ohms (14.4V - 0.1% THD)
2 x 120W @ 2 ohms (14.4V - 0.1% THD)
1 x 240W @ 4 ohms bridge (14.4V - 0.2% THD)
Fuse: 20A
However the sub still sounds like crap ,,
Well I guess I will just wait before doing any more subwoofer and amp stuff....
Still bugs me where the oily stuff is coming from out of the top of the amp.. I will get photos..

Ok since the coustic amp would shut off in low pass mode.. I put this amp on my front 6x8's.. Sounds pretty good...I also have my pioneer tweets tied in as well.. It will split your eardrums.. Then I took my old pioneer amp rated at about 100 watts rms X 1 @ 4ohms.. It has a 25 amp fuse so I figure this is clos to accurate.. anyway it sounds pretty good .. The sad part is that the sub was defective and Sony says that they have had some issues with the coil pulling loose from the spyder on that sub.. However they will not replace it because after seeing the photo of the liqued nails on the sub they considered it customer abuse.. So no more Sony for me.. It still plays at low volumes and sounds ok so I will leave it be for now and consentrate on a good amp for my rear speakers,, or maybe a good 4 channel amp who knows ... It's all going to be pioneer from now on..
This is the old pioneer I had laying around my sub is now on it
