New amp...

Hi all,
I got my new amp in the mail recently (ARC audio KS 900.6) and it is about 2 inches longer than I originally thought. I cannot fit it under the back seat (drivers side) and there is a metal brace on the back of the seat that will not give me any room to mount on the back wall. So here is the question where can I mount this thing? The passenger side rear seat will have 2 P3 shallow 10's mounted and there isn't enough room under the front seats. I have an idea as to mounting it in front of the rear seat but I am not sure if that will be a good idea since I carry children..... Any other ideas????
Thanks.
Rob E.

Oh, it is a 1997 extended cab...

I can't really help, but I have seen links to pictures on here where the seat bracket/brace was trimmed to allow mounting an amp on the rear wall. It was an earlier model truck. That might be an option for you as long as it doesn't effect the integrity of the seat frame.

You could build a false floor and mount it under it to keep crumb/spills/little feet off the amp

When I mounted my amps on the back wall of my 07, I had metal braces rubbing against my amps. They even scratched the hell out of one. It was rather hard to get the seat back on but I was able to do it. But, to keep from further scratching my equipment, I took a circular saw to a couple of them and removed them. Havent had a problem since. They were maybe 3/4" wide and very thin. I would guess there were maybe 6 of them across the whole back.

Thanks for the ideas. I should of thought of the false floor.....I have a 3" lift kit so it will not take up any leg room. As far as the seat back braces there is 1 large metal brace that would fit a 2 x 4 down it so I am not sure how structurally significant it really is.

Thanks and I will look at the false floor option.
