RF 3sixty.2 issues
I installed a 3sixty today and after finally getting the 3sixty and my pc to talk, things shut down. Now my truck won't start. I think I may have run the battery down to the point that voltage is too low, so I have it on a charger and seeing if that will help. If that's not it, what in the hell could I have done to cause this issue? When I go to start, it clicks rapidly and all the warning lights are lit. I have a sick feeling something bad is wrong, but I don't know what it could be. So I'm going to get toasted and probably have to walk to work.
It was the battery, but I have this loud white noise out of one channel. Volume has not impact on the sound. I don't know if it's the amp or the 3sitxy. How can I diagnose if it's the amp or the sound processor?
Seems the 3sixty is the problem. When I unplug that speaker output, the noise goes away. For the money I'm spending for this product, I would have expected better results.
The noise follows a specific channel of the 360. Swapping inputs and RCAs in the amp all have the same result. It's very loud static. Crutchfield is sending me a replacement, so I can swap it out. I knew there was a reason I use these guys, even though they're not the cheapest.
I muted the rear channels and played around with it a little. Definitely cleaned up the sound. I now have mid-bass and the highs aren't as ear piercing, although I just turned the radio off until the new one comes in. I need to find a better remote wire for the amp too. Just ran out of daylight yesterday.
The instructions show a lot larger remote volume unit than what came with mine and more mounting options. I think I'm going to mount it in between the sensor override button and cigarette lighter. It will just be a discreet looking small ****.

Shoot some pics of your install when next 3sixty.2 come in. I would like to see how you wired your 3sixty into the stock harness. Aftermarket is easy, this is my first stocker. We 09' guys are interested
I have a Blaupunkt pnp harness, so it was a piece of cake. I would think getting the Metra harnesses for the factory radio would be the ticket. I don't know if they changed the connectors in 2009. I'm putting the unit inside the console below the dash.
09's use the same harness as 08's so no. I posted in another thread, but Metra tech support advised me that the easiest way to make a harness like this is to buy the harness for their Parrot bluetooth device. I paid $17 on ebay and just need to connect a few wires and plug it in.
Swapped out the defective 3sixty with the new one and it works fine now. I just played with it a little setting the cross overs and the gains on the amp. I'll have to finish up this weekend. The system sure sounds better.
I have to give Crutchfield some credit. I called these guys and they said that it sounded like the unit. So I'm thinking, great, I'm either going to be without tunes in my truck while I ship this unit back and then they send me a new unit, or wait to hear from Rockford on whether they intend to fix it. I didn't like the thought of rigging the wiring harness back up for speaker level input, which I couldn't get around to doing until the next weekend.
They apologized for the problem and said, we'll ship out a new unit to you today and give you two weeks to send the other unit back before we charge your card for the new unit. They told me they didn't care what parts I kept of which unit, as long as they got a complete unit back. That call was on May 18, and I had the new unit on the 21st. You may pay a more for their merchandise, but for that sort of peace of mind, I intend to continue to do business with them. RF's website also says they only honor warranty from authorized dealers and they only list two on-line dealers.
I know a lot of you guys are installers. Where does all this gray market gear come from that are on all these discount websites? I noticed Boston's and Polk's websites had similar disclaimers for warranty claims.
My next step is to add some Dampifier Pro to the doors and rear deck. I ordered 80 sq ft of it this morning and hope it's enough. I'd post pics of my setup, but some would laugh and berate it, so I'll spare myself the embarrassment. It's by no means a competiton system, but I'm happy with it and that's all that matters.
