Amps in Dash??
Amps in Dash??
Hey guys, I have a 2007 Screw that I took to the stereo shop mins after driving it off the lot. I had them change out the front factory speakers with JL TR5x7 cxi's. They also put in an Alpine HU, 250/1 amp, and a JL audio 10w1 in a probox under the rear seat. I was looking for my amp the other day so I could adjust the settings and I went thru all the trouble of taking out the backseat(first time) just to discover that the thing wasnt back there. I traced the speaker wire of the sub to the front of the vehichle and I discovered the amp inside the dash under the HU once I popped the dash panel off. Is this ideal? The reason why I ask is because I am replacing those fronts with some JL C5 570 components and I am going to add a G2500 to run them. Can I throw that thing in there too? lol I'm just curious if it would hurt anything.
Ok, I moved the 250/1 out of the dash and mounted it where the jack used to be, which is now running my 10w1. The jack bolt ended up making a nice ground for that amp. Call me lazy, but I ended up putting the G2250 back in the dash where the 250/1 used to be, because all of the wiring was already there. Plus it would make it really easy to clip the F door speaker wires and hook them into the amp. I really did want to mount the amps on the back wall but once I realized that the amp kit I bought was going to lay me out short, I decided to take the 250/1 to the jack location. Maybe that will be a project for later on. I decided not to go with the JL C5 570 components, so instead I ordered the premier 720prs components this morning. I was pleasantly surprised how good the G2250 made the JL5x7's sound, but then again, it was a hell of an upgrade from the HU's 18w per channel. I guess I will move those 5x7's to the rear when the 720s get here. Of course, I will have everything mostly faded to the front. Anyways, thanks for the suggestions.
