What am I doing wrong...wiring???

I hooked up everything to my system last night, and...it only works at low volumes. I have a JL Audio 250/1v2 amp and 2 10" JL Audio W0v2's. When it is at low volumes it sounds great, but as soon as I turn it up the subs cut off. Why would it be doing this?
I thought the amp maybe going into thermal mode, but that is not the case either, the amp is working just fine. The only thing I could think of is I hooked up the speaker wire from the amp to the woofers wrong...
I took the + and - negative from one terminal on the amp and ran it to the + and - on one of the speaker terminals, then used the other + and - on the amp and ran it to the other speaker. Seemed right to me, but when I looked on JL's website it looks like they just use on of the + and - terminals on the amp and then split those wires to both speakers. I hope all of that made since...let me know if you need more information or not.
I dont know whats going on, any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I have a new battery and my amp and sub shouldn't be drawing that much power from the battery, should it?

as far as speaker wiring its a mono amp it is all thge same. really i just go from one speaker to next tie together, then one wire up to amp.

do a search on forum. there is alot of info on the big 3... battery- to chassis, cab to frame ground. engine to frame ground.
under neath the truck there is a gusset or hallow rail that covers the bottom of the seatbelt bolts. in that on the far passenger side is an egg shaped hole, what i did was drilled a 1/4 in spotter hole,up through floor , then rouned out the oval hole with a unibit big enough to get a socket in, i then used jl audio master ground lug, it is basically a nickle plated bolt, that has a nut on top and bottom. doing it this way it can be bolted tightly, and also accept more than one ground. this is overkill, but it is done right, i dont have to worry bout ground being a prollem. cab floor. sand all paint to bare metal.

Just FYI.... Unless you replace your alternator the Big 3 upgrade will not give you any improvement.

I really doubt with 250 watts he needs to do the big 3 anyway.
