Is a ground needed for a toggle switch?

I have had a amp and subwoofer setup in my truck for a while. I have a remote wire that I want to connect a toggle switch to. So, I can turn the amp off and still listen to my factory speakers. Main reason is when I have my kids in the truck. So, my question is; do I need to ground the switch just to turn the amp on and off by the remote wire?

Yeah, I want to put a toggle switch inline on the remote wire. My question is, if the toggle switch has a ground do I need to use it?

no usually the ground is only there for the light or indicator.

some toggle switches come with only two prongs, and dont have a ground at all.

If there is no LED indicator a ground would be a very bad idea. It would short out the remote power wire if grounded. Do as Low_e_Red says, the switch is just in line and disrupts the power when you see fit.

The ground is there only to operate a light. I cant recall a time where i've seen a ground without a lighted switch. You usually cant have two currents flowing through a standard toggle. Or never I should say.

Ground is only needed if the toggle switch has a light on it.
