Profile Amps?

So the new 08 Ext cab audio is under work. Most of this stuff I have in my 05reg cab so I know it sounds good but there's a couple of things that will be different and one of them is the amps. I've always used Kicker and have never had a problem in all my years and setups but the 08 isn't going to be bass heavy like my 05 so I didn't feel it necessary to spend $500 on a mono amp. I was browsing Crutchfield and saw the Profile AP series amps which have better than average reviews but some of them really didn't sound to intelligent. Looking at the Profile AP 1040 and 1200 amps but both aren't in stock. Sub is a JL 10" W3v3 (stealthbox), Polk db251 components and Polk db571 rear along with Pioneer Avic F90. I know you pay for what you get but that JL sub is not very demanding and the speaks can handle whatever you throw at them so I think I could take the cheaper route. Anybody use them before? I heard they get a little hot and since they will be mounted behind the seat I'm still debating yet the less than $400 price tag for both is tempting.

Profile is a budget amp and their specs are almost always very overrated. Stick with Kicker or maybe grab an e series JL amp. I have an e1200 and an e4300 and they are great.

Here's my take. I have one but its in my commuter ride (a car I dont care for) and the sound is cool. I wouldn't put one in my truck. In my truck I'm running Alpine amps. I like em', they work, there small and I think they look really good.

Yeah I'm still thinking Kicker cause if those amps fail or are over rated I'm going to be upset and since I'm saving some money NOT going with the Roush exhaust I might fork out the extra bucks for the Kickers.

After going to the Kicker site to find the right amp for my little 10" JL W3v3 SVC which has a RMS of 500 I believe I also decided to see what internet dealers were authorizred and Amazon was so even though I looked a week or so I ago I managed to find a zx550.2for the sub and a zx200.4 for the speakers for $330 with shipping which I think was close to what the two Profile amps would cost. Thanks for getting me to re-look and re-think that decision and let my Kicker tradition continue

Glad it worked out in the end and I'm glad you didn't buy profile.

I have the Profile AP 740 4 channel amp running my door speakers. I have no problems with it. I got it for $100 shipped brand new off ebay could not pass it up. As far as the quality of the amp it has worked great for me. I am sure kicker is a better amp but if you don't want to spend a lot of money then profile is a good amp for the price. Even with the kicker amp I would check ebay for prices you can usually find them on there much cheaper than most places. Good luck!
