i really don't want to spend more than 300. i'm looking at us amp xt2000d and just turning it down.
i def don't want to do anything to the electrical system so that's out of the picture and it will be the only amp i'm running.
what the hell is this 3/4 situation i keep hearing about??

That amp (US Amps XT2000.1 D) is NOT going to put out 1K at 1 ohm. No way no how. More like 800 at the most, but probably 600-750 at stock voltage levels.
Big 3/4 involves using a larger gauge wire between the battery, alternator, and ground. May be necessary, may not be. You'll find out really easily once you turn your system up.

ED Nine.1 is 289 shipped from ED, AQ 1200D is 249 shipped from AQ. Check out their respective websites.

I'm not so sure about that one. I have 2 of the XT series amps (800.2 and 1600.2) and both bench right near their rated power...

It has 90 amps of fuse, which doesn't lend me to believe its going to do 1K unless its unbelievably efficient. I have not personally used one (even if I had I wouldn't know what 1K would feel like or anything, and I don't have a way to measure its output), but a good friend of mine swears by US Amps - however only the upper level stuff, MD and AX lines. He doesn't have anything good to say about the XT line.

The Merlins are a pretty hungry line of amps - KX1000.1 (if you can afford it) is one of the most efficient amps on the market. Something like 90% + at 4 ohms.

Do the big 4 upgrade with 1/0 and you will be perfectly fine. Any of these amps your are looking at (1000 rms+) need the electrical upgrades.
1 ohm isnt necessarily required. It all depends on the impedance of your speakers.

The BXIs get a lot of hate, but for the price they're pretty hard to beat. Just don't expect to actually get the rated amount from them, and clipping will lead to a lifespan measured in weeks.
