i really don't want to spend more than 300. i'm looking at us amp xt2000d and just turning it down.

i def don't want to do anything to the electrical system so that's out of the picture and it will be the only amp i'm running.

what the hell is this 3/4 situation i keep hearing about??

ED Nine.1 is 289 shipped from ED, AQ 1200D is 249 shipped from AQ. Check out their respective websites.

That amp (US Amps XT2000.1 D) is NOT going to put out 1K at 1 ohm. No way no how. More like 800 at the most, but probably 600-750 at stock voltage levels.

Big 3/4 involves using a larger gauge wire between the battery, alternator, and ground. May be necessary, may not be. You'll find out really easily once you turn your system up.

Any additions over 55A in these trucks really starts to need the Big3/4. The wire just cant handle the excess load.

Have you used an XT2000D before?

I'm not so sure about that one. I have 2 of the XT series amps (800.2 and 1600.2) and both bench right near their rated power...

I think the OP might think its doing 2K, its only rated for 1K.

It has 90 amps of fuse, which doesn't lend me to believe its going to do 1K unless its unbelievably efficient. I have not personally used one (even if I had I wouldn't know what 1K would feel like or anything, and I don't have a way to measure its output), but a good friend of mine swears by US Amps - however only the upper level stuff, MD and AX lines. He doesn't have anything good to say about the XT line.

the ax line is probably out of my price range but i think i've got it narrowed down to the md1.

would i have to do anything (other than beefing up the power wire) to the 3/4 scenario by going with that amp?

The Merlins are a pretty hungry line of amps - KX1000.1 (if you can afford it) is one of the most efficient amps on the market. Something like 90% + at 4 ohms.

I would take a Merlin over a KX amp 24/7/365.

Do the big 4 upgrade with 1/0 and you will be perfectly fine. Any of these amps your are looking at (1000 rms+) need the electrical upgrades.

1 ohm isnt necessarily required. It all depends on the impedance of your speakers.

10 ft of 1/0, some ring terminals, and wire loom...shouldn't cost more than 40 bucks tops.

The BXIs get a lot of hate, but for the price they're pretty hard to beat. Just don't expect to actually get the rated amount from them, and clipping will lead to a lifespan measured in weeks.
