Exile amps

Are exile amps any good? I am looking at either the X600.4 or the S400.4. They would be powering 5.25" components and a MTX Thunderform with the matching MTX sub(Thunder4500). Other choices are Rockford P400.4 and MTX TC4004. There are a couple cheaper MTX Thunder series models available as well.

I would go with the exile way before the others you have listed. The guys that designed/make these amps are the guys that made Phoenix Gold amps back when they were good.

I have the Exile Shift 400.4 in my Blazer - Pioneer 4x6's in the front and Orion Cobalt 6x9's in the back. I really like it a lot, has plenty of power and it's crystal clear with no distortion. It has never overheated or malfunctioned on me in any way, overall it's a very nice amp. The terminals are all 3, 4, and 5mm hex keys so they don't strip out.

Once I finished my system I gave it a baseline setup and wasn't that impressed. I took it to a professional who spent a good thirty minutes tuning it by ear and with a meter and it's absolutely mind-blowing now.

I am going to pickup an Exile x600.4 amp later this week. Is an 8 guage wire kit enough or should I go 4 guage? It will have be setup up with front components and a 12 inch sub bridged off the rear. At 4 ohms it puts out 4x 75 watts.
