Protection Mode

Anyone ever had an amp go into protect mode because the bass remote went bad? My amp goes into protect mode immediately when you turn on the key, but not if you turn down the **** all the way. Once the amp turns on, you can crank up the **** and everything is okay. The kicker is that if you unplug the cord from the back of the remote, it never goes into protect mode! The remote has two lights: power and protect mode. Once it goes into protect mode, the only way to get the amp to turn on is to turn off the HU then either turn down the ****, or unplug the remote completely and turn the HU on again. I had this amp in my '68 SS Camaro, but thought it was because it didn't get ehough airflow, but that's not the case in my truck.

Ive honestly never heard of case where the Rem **** was the killer. What series Kicker is it? It wouldnt honestly surprise me, because the **** is a gain control not volume control.

The amp is a Lightning Audio LA300.2. I unplugged the remote and everything is fine so far. I think I will plan on a new amp since this is a pretty crappy amp anyway. I ordered a new remote but I swear it probably cost more than what the amp was worth! Thanks Low, you have saved me lots of time on my install!
