Help! Amp will not turn on!

so today I wired up everything, I have perfect voltage going to my kicker 600.1, a perfect ground..(Bolt going threw the floor for the back bench seat) and my remote wire is sending .25v to the amp from the head unit....on my amp it has 2 lights, power and protection....the power light is not comming on at all. I checked the voltage at the + terminal, 13 and change. check the ohms from the rear seat bolt to the frame, 0 ohms, perfect connection. once again, check the voltage from the remote wire, .25v. Im soo freaaking confused. I double checked the fuses on the amp, both are good. what am I missing? did I forget something or blow my amp? HELP

What head unit are you using? and how old is it? I am not sure but I think the remote wire is supposed to be 12v.

naw, the remote wire just sends a signal to tell the amp to turn on...not sure if .25 volts is low though.
could just be a dud amp. thats my only guess

WOAH!!! C.Whammy I am disappointed in you.

12v is necessary on rem. wire for amp to kick on. Check the connections on back the radio and make sure Rem wire is on either Blue/White or Blue (if no Blue/White wire is present). If that doesnt work, try rem wire on red 12v switched wire at radio harness.

If all else fails, i'd try checking your ground. I have a JL Audio 1000/1 amp, and it needed a better ground then my bolt on my back seats. I mean, it worked, but it'd shut off when it needed to draw more power from my capacitor. So if it were me, i'd start there. If not that, see if your amp is still working. It is a possibility that the amp is just not working. take a car battery, or jumper cables from your battery, and hook them up to your amp and run a positive wire from the cables into the Remote port.. If it turns on, then it has to be a ground. If it doesnt, its an amp fault.

Its not the amp guaranteed. Because if it were, the rem wire would show 12v. Its a INPUT into the amp. NOT AN OUTPUT.

well I finally figured it out...sorry for the delay in the response....I got so fustrated that I decided to take up all the plastics along the side of the inside of the truck to inspect every inch of remote wire and vvwwwa laa! one of the plastic clips that hold down that plastic strip cut halfway threw the remote wire so it would only make a "ok" connection if it was moved a certain way. I replaced it and it works like a champ. thanks guys for your time

Man, you got lucky. Normally, when a remote wire gets cut it can fry a lot of things: the remote output on the deck, the amp rem in, seen it catch a car on fire and the entire rem wire went up in smoke (it was my Asst. Managers car... ), etc.

No, I had nothing to do with it, nor did my bay. He decided he would do it, to save the 30$ for buying us lunch. So, he took a piece of rem wire, wrapped it around a 25A fuse, stuck the fuse back in. Put the car together and it about a week later went poof. I got the funny job of taking the wire out. It was hilarious and sad all in the same. Oh and that was the second time it went up. The first he just unhooked it from the fuse and then put it back a few days later and it was cool for a while. (Hes a complete genius... )

We did the next amp and sub install...
