Where to get power?

Ok, I know I should go to the battery for my amp, but is there any other place inside the cab I could draw from. I am using a 300 watt amp, not too big. I have a 05 supcab xlt. Thanks for any info.....

yea, unless you want to be the first to try to pull 300 watts of power from a 16 gauge wire that is probably fused at like 5 amps.....then i would say x3

thanks for reply

Just wanted to make sure. I usually go to the battery with the amp, just wanted to know if there was a source in the cab I could got to without going trough the firewall. By the way, which "hole" or "area" should I choose to go through the firewall. Have installed amps in the past, just not on the new body styles....thanks again for all the help..

I also have a little pictorial in my signature about this... my grommet of choice was on the driver's side.

I never had a problem with it.

No, gosh. Dumby. Try just mounting the amp in the hood. Fuses are a PITA and worthless....

what was i thinking?! fuses are pointless, if your stuff shorts out you can just electrical tape over the charred insulation

I literally just worked on a Jetta that completely fried all insulation off of the wire. It no **** caught fire under the dash and the copper was like burnt paper (touch it and it falls apart).

He wrapped some copper (18ga remote wire) around a 25A fuse (of course the hot side of the fuse) and decided to use it for power wire, well in putting everything back together put a screw threw it... Starts it up and poof fire. Melted through his fuse panel... HORRIBLE. He also did it 2x...

I laughed at the shear stupidity (P.S. He is the asst manager at my new CCity...)
