Which amp for JL Audio 13W3v3-4

I am going to be running this sub which specs (power range: 150-600 watts RMS, peak power handling: 1,200 watts)

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...13W3V34&tp=111

I was looking at the JL Audio 500W/1v2, would this amp be good enough or if there is a better amp for the rating that is cheaper could somebody point me in the right direction. The JL amp looks nice but is a bit pricey, im just trying to see if i would be overpaying or not.

with the JL, you'd be paying more than a dollar per watt. thats pretty ridiculous, but ive never really been a fan of jl amps. i would say check out the m605, or the pdx 1.600, or maybe Orion's HCCA d1200

Look at an Alpine MRP-M1000. I had one pushing a pair of JL 12w3v3's and it was waaaay too much power. Seems like a better fit for your needs though.

Well to be honest with you guys, i dont know a whole lot about stereo equipment. I would like to stay between the 200-400 range and could get the JL amp for 400. I just didnt know if it was worth it or if there was something out there that was comparable that may be a little cheaper.

Are you powering one or two? I had a 500/1 powering 2 JL 10w1v2's and it was overkill. It was turned way down. Now, I have a 12w6v2 and it is freaking sweet. The amp is turned up half way for 2 weeks to allow break in, then i get to let her rip. And remember, JL's are WAY underrated. When they peak its pushing a lot. And you get what you pay for...

Cause I want it to work for a while, lol. I just got a grill for it yesterday, FREE!!!. Since it is very visible and accesable, I dont want it to get damaged so they gave me a wire mesh JL W6 grill.
